Affordable Recovery Options in 2024 & 2025

As we enter the heart of the Holiday season and we get closer and closer to the New Year, it's important to know that recovery is accessible.

Free Recovery Resources ($0/month):

  • Library to check out recovery books (seriously if you have a local library you can check out books, DVDs, Chromebooks, and more! Some of my clients don't have anything in their house outside of a smartphone so knowing you can rent a Chromebook for any technological needs from the library has been helpful to know for past clients)
  • Youtube videos on recovery
  • Articles online
  • Free newsletters (like this one)

Low to Mid Cost Recovery Resources (Under $260/month):

Average/Standard Recovery Cost Resources ($500+/month depending on recovery team and how often you meet with them)

  • Individual therapy and/or coaching (non sliding scale)
  • Recovery Intensives (often $10k+ for 3 day intensives out of state - that does not include the plane tickets to get there)
  • Psychiatrists (cost depends on individuals insurance)
  • Polygraphers if you want that as part of your recovery journey (cost depends on where you live and their expertise)
  • Medical appointments (yearly physical, medical specialists, etc.)

***I'm considering running a weekly recovery group for $50/weekly meeting for drop ins or $35/weekly meeting for those who sign up for the month where we address basic recovery education, recovery skills, recovery knowledge (i.e. kind of like a book club with recovery books we read and discuss each month). If that's something of interest to you, email me back to let me know! If there's enough interest, I'll put the offer together. If you have suggestions for what you'd like to see in a weekly recovery coaching support group, send your needs and ideas over!***

I hope that you're able to enter and get consistent in your recovery efforts before we enter the New Year - no matter your budget.

Remember, you are in the driver's seat of your recovery.

Every day you have the choice to move towards health and connection or move towards addiction and disconnection.

You have the power to recover, always!

Until next time,

I 100% believe that recovery is possible for anyone who truly wants to recover. I also know from experience that when someone who wants recovery won't do "the thing" they need to do to recover, recovery halts. "The Thing" can look different depending on your history, addiction trajectory, and current situation. The Most Common Blocks (with Recovery Opportunities because I'm feeling extra generous!) Denial When one or both partners are in denial about something that will block progress....

You've most likely heard the saying, "we all have a choice," before. It's true, every single one of us has a choice. In fact, we make hundreds of choices every single day. From the moment you wake up you make a decision to check your phone or not check your phone as the first thing you do. Small choices each day add up to habits over time. To be successful in recovery means to begin making different choices, consistently, over the long haul. Achieving 7.5 years clean meant Jak had to make...

With over 7 years clean and continuing our Recovery Lifestyle, we're in a very different place then we were back then. In our early 20's you can bet we spent more on Black Friday... and we didn't make the best financial decisions. Fast forward to 2023? I bought a budget book for cash stuffing since Jak let me know he feels he is better with money when it's physical ($8) and Jak bought a shelving unit for the basement to organize his stuff ($66). That was it. We spent a whopping $74 this year...
